Year 10 GCSE Projects

During year 10 students will learn a lot of the required theory preparing them for examples and for their controlled assessment in year 11.

Theory is taught through 3 main projects supported with theory lessons.

Project One: MP3 audio amplifier.

Students are introduced into the world of Analogue Electronics and make a MP3 audio amplifier. They learn the difference between Digital and Analogue Electronics.

Project Two: Choice of Electronic Game or Xylophone

Students build and test a choice of either a Electronic Game or Xylophone using a pre-programmed PIC. This introduces them to further workshop tools and skills as well as further develop knowledge in Transistors and Intergrated Circuits.

Project Three: End of year 10 mini project.

Students learn how to design and make a Printed Circuit Board as well as research and developement skills. The mini projects use a PICAXE Microcontroller which students will programme to meet their own design brief. 2D design tools is used to design and make a simple case to hold their projects.
