Electronic Product Design

I am happy to quote for custom electronic projects and have over 20 years design experience in Electronic Engineering. I have been involved in designing educational projects as well as designs for toy prototypes. Please contact me to discuss your own projects and for a quote.

Some example projects:

Tube colour changing lamp

Using RGB 5050 flexible LED strips which are connected together to form the centre of the lamp. These are held in place with laser cut spacers and the tube is plugged to create a smart looking lamp. At the base of the tube is a remote control receiver where any colour can be selected, including strobe, flash and fade routines.

The wooden base is made from oak, supporting the tube and hiding the power connector.

Mini Projector Shutter

Used attached to the front of projectors which block out the projection on cue. Many different versions of this are made my lighting engineers, including converting a PC DVD player. This offers a neat solution at a lot lower cost than similar designs.

Please ask for a quote.

DMX Controlled Projector Shutter

Similar to the Mini Projector Shutter above but slightly larger in size with a DMX controller built in.

QLAB USB remote control

These units have a built in keyboard encoder which is connected to a Apple Mac running QLAB. Used for sound cueing productions and shows.

Radio Controlled LED Suits

Ready for the Bath Gang Show 2012 we are developing some LED suits with 5 full colour controllable radio control zones. Inspired from the Americas got talent 2011 finals and Shock Solutions LED men.

The plan is to use RGB 3035 Flexible LED strips which will be fixed onto a jump suit. Each leg and arm, and body will be able to change to any colour.

The electronic control box design at present has 3 processors which look after the PWM side of things for each zone and one other processor which decodes the receiver information and sends comments to the other processors.
